Vanitas of a Lost Child
A Vanitas is a dutch style still life painting from the 16th century that depicts the pleasures of humanity and the inevitability of their demise. This piece is an attempt to use the visual associated with this painting style to tell the story of a little girl, who died of tuberculosis in the early 20th century.

Above is the original layout for the scene. Once everything was textured I realized it was too spread out and having the window back-light everything did not look good.

After some rethinking, I decided to move everything to a smaller table, where the composition would be more true to the painting style. I also moved the light toward the side of the composition.
